About Me
Hi, I’m Carla Isabela, and I’ve been sewing for almost 4 years. I started sewing when I learned about the differences in natural fibers vs. synthetic fibers. I became intentional with my clothes shopping to only look for cotton and linen fibers, but I found it to be quite challenging. That’s when I decided to teach myself how to sew. That quickly led to learning how to self-draft sewing patterns to my own specific measurements. I’ve always had problems with store bought clothes fitting me the right way, and I quickly found out that the same problem was occurring with buying sewing patterns.
Sewing has always intrigued me because my whole life I’ve been very creative. I made duct tape wallets when I was 11, tried pottery at 13, dabbled in jewelry making at 16, started baking at 17, learned to cook and bake with sourdough at 20, and shortly thereafter I took up sewing. Even now there are so many new things I want to try one day, but sewing has been a steady constant in my life, continuously challenging me to learn new things within the same craft.
This year I set a goal for myself to redesign my entire wardrobe. This idea stemmed from a patternmaking course I took last year that totally changed my life. My ultimate goal is to create and sell digital sewing patterns that people feel excited to sew. Currently, I’m focusing on honing my skills as a seamstress and pattern designer. I’m documenting my journey here and on Instagram.
